How much advertising fees can an independent blog earn from its traffic?

We all know that most bloggers start independent blogs out of personal interest, but personal interest alone cannot sustain an independent blog in a healthy and long-term manner. Many grassroots bloggers' blogs have only dozens of IP addresses every day, and sometimes hundreds of IP addresses. Such a small amount of traffic is obviously not enough to make a profit. Bloggers work hard to update articles and pay for hosting and domain names, but they get no return. Over time, the bloggers' enthusiasm fades, and after a few months they put their blogs aside and stop updating them. In 2009, I read a survey report in a foreign publication. The title was very shocking. It meant that blogs were about to die out under the impact of the SNS community. They even listed a data showing that 70% of blogs were abandoned as soon as they were completed, and the reason for abandoning the blogs was that they could not make a profit.
The threshold for blogging is low and it is easy to maintain, so most webmasters who want to make money disdain to blog. But is it true that blogging cannot be profitable? Obviously not! As far as I know, Jiandan.com, Moonlight Blog and Lu Songsong Blog have all been successful. Most novice bloggers have no idea about the profitability of a blog. Seeing their predecessors having tens of thousands of IPs, they quickly lose confidence and feel that they may have to wait for the next life to make money from their blogs. Therefore, Arlen wrote this article specifically to analyze blog traffic and profitability, proving with facts that achieving profitability is not as difficult as you think.
This is the first time I post a tutorial. It is a summary of my personal experience, so it is bound to have some shortcomings. Therefore, it is only for reference by beginners. I hope experts can give me more advice.
First of all, I divide blogs into several levels (illegal blogs, professional blogs, commercial blogs, cheating blogs, and garbage sites are not included, only personal blogs)
Starting stage: 0-1000 ip (negative income)
Primary stage: 1000-8000ip (balance between income and support)
Intermediate stage: 8000-20000 ip (gainful)
Advanced stage: 20,000-100,000 IPs (great harvest)
Final stage: more than 100,000 (issued)
0-1000ip (monthly expected income 0)
This is the starting stage, and most bloggers struggle at this stage. Some bloggers occasionally reach 700 or 800 IPs in a day, but this does not mean anything because it is not difficult to achieve such results. It can be easily achieved with one method: register an account in several forums related to the content of your blog, post some popular resource seeds on your blog, such as: "Final Destination 5" HD video seeds, and then repost it to the forum and leave your own link. If you spend two hours to post 30 promotional links by copying and pasting, your daily visits will reach at least 500 (bloggers with 20 to 30 IP addresses every day can try it). Since traffic comes easily, its value is naturally not high. There are few repeat customers, and they basically won’t come back after downloading. So Arlen recommends that you don’t place advertisements at this stage, because the most important thing at this stage is to attract visitors and leave a good impression on everyone. And even if you place an ad alliance ad, you probably won’t be able to make any money because the ad fee is too low. Don’t do CPS advertising for Alibaba Mama Alliance, there is no profit at all. Be patient for a month, go to http://top.baidu.com/ every day to check the popular keywords, and publish some related articles by selecting keywords. You will soon see the results.
1000ip-3000ip (expected monthly income 150-500 yuan)
First of all, congratulations! After a month (or even longer) of persistence, your website finally looks like something. Now you will have some regular visitors every day (check the website return rate), and the content of the website has been initially enriched. Now you can consider joining some advertising networks to make up for your expenses. The first ones I recommend are Google Adsense and Baidu Alliance. With your current traffic, it should not be difficult to pass the review of these two alliances. If you fail, apply a few more times. Google Alliance generally charges more advertising fees than Baidu Alliance, as the US dollar is more valuable. There are special tutorials on ad code delivery, so I won’t go into detail here. Google generally earns between 0.3 and 3 US dollars a day, and Baidu generally earns between 0.5 and 4 yuan a day. If you put both advertising alliances up, the income will be more ideal. In this way, the hosting fees and domain name fees can basically be offset by advertising fees. (Of course there are exceptions, for example, Arlen’s blog “Lolita Cute Picture Network” is a pure picture site. The traffic consumed by this blog is more than ten times or even dozens of times that of blogs with the same number of visitors. I have no choice but to use some picture external links to reduce the pressure. So picture sites are a dead end.)
3000-8000ip (expected monthly income 500-1200 yuan)
This stage is the same as the previous one, and revenue is still generated through advertising alliances. However, at this time, advertisers will usually contact you. There were several times when advertising alliances contacted me on QQ and asked me if I was willing to run pop-up ads. I ultimately did not agree because pop-up ads are enough to ruin a website before visitors become sufficiently dependent on it. Therefore, it is better not to place pop-up ads, otherwise it will be like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. It is best not to have more than five ads per page. Taking "Lolita Cute Picture Network" as an example, there is one full-width ad space at the top of the page, one sidebar ad space, one bottom ad space for the article, one bottom ad space for the message box, and one floating ad space (which can be removed). Any more would be offensive.
8000-20000ip (expected monthly income 1200-5000 yuan)
8000IP is a threshold, indicating that your blog has officially entered the stage of sustained development. Monthly income has gone up a level and reached four-digit income. Now your blog income can meet some of your basic needs and even earn some pocket money. The website's profit-making methods began to diversify: it could remove some less profitable advertising alliances, contact certain interested people to sell some advertising space on a monthly basis, or sell some friendly links. In short, the traffic is there, and there are many ways to make profits. You can look at how Moonlight Blog and Lu Songsong Blog do it (as early as May 2004, Moonlight Blog's advertising income began to exceed work income; in July 2007, Moonlight Blog revealed that his advertising income from Feedburner alone last month was US$435, not including Google Adsense advertising income; in October 2007, Moonlight Blog revealed that his Google Adsense referral income last month was US$760, and his monthly income must be over ten thousand now).
We won’t discuss those with more than 20,000 IPs. By that time, you will have become a god in the independent blogging world. Not many people can achieve this. ~laugh~
The specific income is related to various factors: click-through rate, ad position optimization, and the relevance of website content and ads. Therefore, the above data can only be used as a reference, and everyone should not be superstitious about the data.
The most important factor in increasing traffic: content. Instead of promoting everywhere, it is better to focus on content. The saying "content is king" is not just a casual remark. If your blog only has a dozen articles, it will definitely not attract traffic. In addition, if you do more keyword optimization, you will get unexpected surprises.
