IDrive – Free online storage that automatically backs up your WordPress data

IDrive is a service provider that provides online storage and backup. Registering as their free user will get 5G of storage space, which can be used to store any of your data. Of course, the reason we introduce it today is not just to highlight its online backup function, but to explain and emphasize its other function that is closely related to WordPress: backing up your WordPress online!
Before using this feature, you need to do two things: 1. Install the plug-in provided by IDrive in your WordPress (click to download); 2. Become a registered member of IDrive. The second point you need to pay attention to here is that you should not register on the IDrive official page, otherwise you will not be able to use the WordPress backup service due to membership type issues. The correct way to register is to register on the plugin page after installing the plugin!

By default, IDrive will back up all WordPress files and databases. If you want to exclude a file or folder, click "Exclusion list" and fill in the absolute path of the file (folder). Finally, click "Backup Now" to start the backup process. According to IDrive's documentation, this storage process will terminate when your site is accessed, and then the backup will continue (my site backup took a total of two and a half hours). Therefore, based on efficiency considerations, the backup process is best started at night when there are fewer visitors. But it is worth affirming that after the first "full" backup is completed, subsequent backups will no longer be stupidly backing up everything, but only backing up the modified files, which is smarter: for example, my first backup uploaded 2301 files, but the second 5, and the third 12.
After the backup is complete, your backup information will be displayed at the "Last Restore Summary". Select one of them and click "Restore Now" to import (overwrite) the file.
In addition, IDrive's default backup frequency is once a day, which is a bit frequent. If you don't plan to back up at this frequency, you just need to exit the plug-in's login interface (click LOGOUT in the upper right corner), and then log in again when you want to back up!
