Tips for using AdSense in forums

Maximize your AdSense income through forums, message boards and discussion groups!
In Chapter 8, we discussed how to generate income through blogging, but blogs are certainly not the only type of content on the Internet, and they are certainly not the only type of website that can use AdSense.
In an active Internet community, most of the content is created by users themselves. It is basically difficult for you to control the keywords or themes of the web pages. On the bright side, your AdSense is likely to bring you some surprises. (Have backup ads ready in case a PSA appears)
Unlike passive web surfers who browse your site looking for useful information, forum members contribute content and care deeply about other members' reactions to that content.
Many people who place Adsense ads on the community complain that the click-through rate of the ads is too low, the keywords appear too discretely (poor content relevance), and the price per click is also very low. In fact, they do not realize that the members' fanatical loyalty to the community, repeated visits, unique content and members' high level of concern for the content all make the Internet community a hidden gold mine.
Some big brands, like Apple and Harley Davidson, are built on the following foundations: individuals who care deeply about the product, who are inseparable from the product, and who actively and proactively spread the word of mouth. You can achieve the same effect through your community website.
All Internet communities are different, but their charm is the same. What you need to do is find new and appropriate ways to generate income through your community, just like some smart webmasters are already doing.
Below you will find some new ideas that I hope will help you expand your thinking:
10.1 Forum participants tend to be very interested in the topics they discuss. No matter where the ads appear, at the top, bottom or side of the web page, it is difficult for them to attract the visitor's attention.
10.2 The best way to attract attention is to place the advertisement below the first post on each page. Posts that are higher up on the page are more likely to attract attention and have the greatest impact on the direction of the entire discussion. Many webmasters are superstitious about Google's 728*90 banner ads. Such ads placed at the top of the page are not suitable for forums.
10.3 What is the most clicked topic in the forum? Of course it’s the forum function button! Place your ad close to useful features, such as buttons to search the site, create a new post, or reply.
Surrounding the ad are some impressive statistics, such as the number of registered members, the number of related posts, etc. These numbers make the ads in the "Daily Deal" section look more reasonable. After seeing these ads, real users will have a sense of "crisis" and will be eager to click on them to prevent other coveters from getting there first.
10.4 Make sure the ad format you use is similar to the format that users use to post. The first step is to get the user's attention, which is very important, and then to display the advertising information in a form that users are accustomed to.
10.5 Try to place ads at the bottom of every post. If forum users are spamming too much, or your ad click-through rate is plummeting, try placing ads at the bottom of each post in rotation. The secret is to keep the placement random and play hide-and-seek with users.
10.6 Do not insert advertisements in the middle of a post to avoid destroying the integrity of the post content. Most of the content in the forum is created by users. People are always very sensitive about the content they create. If you insert advertisements in the middle of their content and make these advertisements look like their personal recommendations, they will feel violated.
10.7 Do not pile advertisements in the middle of a web page. This approach may work for "passive" visitors, but it has no positive effect on forum members (active visitors), who will simply ignore the ads and read what interests them.
10.8 Allow users to find advertisements of interest through the Google search box. How many times have a forum post inspired you to do a Google search yourself? once? twice? Always like this? If you’re anything like me, the Google search box is an added convenience that most users welcome, and it keeps visitors on your site! If they click on the ad in the search results, you make another profit!
Which of the above methods would be useful for your forum?
Only time will tell, but don't forget to use the free tools provided by Google to track your ad performance. Many people have made money through Internet communities. This does not require any high technology, just a little persistence!
