How to enable Virtual FTP on IXWebHosting

How to enable Virtual FTP on IXWebHosting
Compared with FTP secondary accounts, virtual FTP provides more possibilities. You can set permissions for your virtual FTP users to allow them to access multiple directories, or certain files under a directory. Virtual FTP users can directly enter your root directory, but they can only access the directories you authorize.

Enable Virtual FTP

• Click the Domains icon in the Control Panel.
• If there are multiple domains, select the one where you want to enable Virtual FTP.
• The page that pops up next requires you to have a dedicated IP.
• Return to the control panel and click on the FTP service icon. Enable FTP for this domain.

• On the next page, give this new virtual host a server name. This name appears in the greeting that visitors see when they connect to your server using an FTP client. Also, don't forget to enter your email address so FTP users can contact you with questions and comments.

Add FTP Account

• Click the Edit icon for the FTP field.
• Click the Add icon associated with Virtual FTP Users to create a new account for Virtual FTP:

Click the Add icon associated with Virtual FTP Directories and enter the new directory name for this virtual FTP.
• Edit using slashes, such as: Dir1/. The detailed location must specify the corresponding root directory. To create a virtual FTP directory under another directory, use the path, such as Dir1/UserDirs/.
• On the same page, set permissions for this directory.

Read-only: Select this option to allow downloading from this directory.
Read and Write: Select this option to allow uploads to this directory.
List: Select this option to allow browsing the contents of the directory. Typically used with read-only.

Grant Permissions to all users: Select this option to allow all your Virtual FTP users to have these permissions. If you do not select this property, you will need to set access permissions for this directory for each VirtualFTP user individually.

• Click the Edit icon next to the directory you just created. If you have not already done so, you can now set permissions for all of your Virtual FTP users.

If you have already granted these permissions to all Virtual FTP users, you can skip this step.
